    值此美中友协第28届年会开幕式之际，我向各位致以诚挚问候和热烈祝贺。

    人文交流是中美关系的基石。美中友协是最早同中国开展人文交流合作的美国组织之一，自1974年成立以来，同两国其他友好组织一道积极致力于推动中美人民友好合作，为推动双方互信，增进彼此友谊作出积极贡献。我对此表示高度赞赏。

    今年是乒乓外交50周年。50年来，中美关系不断向前发展，取得历史性成就，为两国人民带来了实实在在的利益。历史已经证明，中美合则两利，斗则俱伤。乒乓外交给我们的启示是，中美尽管有着不同的意识形态，但总能也必能够找到合作共识，实现互利共赢。

    当前中美关系正处于关键十字路口。中美能否处理好彼此关系，攸关世界前途命运。正如习近平主席指出，中美关系不是一道是否搞好的选择题，而是一道如何搞好的必答题。中国将一如既往，致力于同美方加强对话，管控分歧，扩大合作。我们将继续同美中友协及其他美友好组织一道，共同推动中美关系健康稳定发展。

    我预祝美中友协第28届年会圆满成功！祝各位幸福安康！

Congratulatory Message

On the occasion of the opening ceremony of the 28th National Convention of US-China Peoples Friendship Association (USCPFA), I would like to extend my warmest greetings and congratulations to you all!

The China-US relations are rooted in people-to-people exchanges. Over the years, the USCPFA and many other organizations from both countries have made great contributions to enhancing our peoples' friendship and cooperation. The USCPFA is one of the first US organizations dedicated to people-to-people exchanges with China. It has made unremitting efforts in promoting mutual understanding and friendship between our two peoples since its founding in 1974. I greatly applaud your commitment.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Ping Pong diplomacy. Over the past five decades, China-US relations have kept moving forward, scored historic achievements, and brought tangible benefits to our two peoples. History has proved that both sides stand to gain from cooperation, and lose from confrontation. The legacy of Ping Pong diplomacy lies in the fact that regardless of ideological difference, we can and must find common ground and advance our mutual interests.

The China-US relationship is at a critical crossroads. Whether we can handle our relationship well bears on the future of the world. As President Xi Jinping pointed out, getting the relationship right is not optional, but something we must do and must do well. China, as always, stands ready to work with the US side to enhance communication, manage differences and expand cooperation. We will continue to count on the USCPFA and other American friendship organizations in this regard.

I wish the 28th National Convention of the USCPFA a great success! I wish each and every one of you health and happiness!
