On May 7, 2008, H. E. Mr. Zhou Wenzhong, Ambassador of China in the United States, delivered a keynote speech at the Worldwide Leadership Conference of Eaton Corporation, which was held in Naples, Florida. Ambassador Zhou shared his point of view on China-US relationship since its normalization and the great achievements China has made since the introduction of its reform and opening up 30 years ago. Ambassador Zhou pointed out that China is still a developing country facing many difficulties and challenges in its quest for development. To ensure sustainable economic and social development and continuous improving the living standard of the people will always be China's central task. Proceeding from its own actualities, China will implement the scientific outlook of development, adhere to reform and opening up, speed up the transition of economic growth mode, follow a new road of industrialization, participate in the economic globalization at a higher level, and build a moderately prosperous society in an all round way. Ambassador Zhou highlighted China's economic, trade and investment environment from the aspects of consumption, import and export, investment and human resources. Ambassador Zhou emphasized that China-US economic cooperation and trade is a win-win story because the two economies are strongly mutually complementary. Bilateral trade and economic cooperation have been growing very fast and bringing tangible benefit to the people of both countries. Ambassador Zhou hoped the Eaton Corporation integrates its development strategy with China's modernization process, and actively helps promote the economic and trade relations between the two great countries. Ambassador also answered questions from the audience. Eaton's chairman Cutler and more than 400 senior managers of the corporation from around the world joined in the event. |
