China, U.S. vow to improve trade ties

     BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The third China-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue will be held in Beijing on Dec. 12-13, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao announced here Thursday.

    Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi and U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson will co-chair the meeting as special representatives of state leaders of the two countries.

    Ministers and other senior officials from related departments of the two governments will also attend the dialogue, Liu added.

    The dialogue was launched by President George W. Bush and President Hu Jintao in September 2006. The biannual SED between Beijing and Washington serves as a platform to discuss long-term, strategic and comprehensive issues in the bilateral trade relationship.

    In Washington on May 22 and 23, the United States and China held the second Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED). As special representatives of Presidents Bush and Hu, Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson, Jr. and Vice Premier Wu Yi served as co-chairs of the SED.

China, U.S. conclude key economic dialogue, with specific agreements 

    WASHINGTON, May 23 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States on Wednesday concluded a key economic dialogue with a wide variety of specific agreements.

    In remarks prepared for the concluding of U.S.-China Strategic Economic Dialogue, Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi said the two countries reached much consensus and realized positive results.
