BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The truth that the Chinese mainland and Taiwan reached consensus about the relations across the Taiwan Straits in 1992 cannot be denied, said a mainland official here Wednesday. Fan Liqing, spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said the Taiwan authorities recently fabricated the so-called "2005 consensus", which twisted the facts. "There is no gainsaying the fact that the two sides made the 1992 consensus," she said. The 1992 consensus saw both sides recognize that there is only one China, but agreed to differ on its definition.
